Keeping your energy levels up while dieting can be tricky, specially during carb cycling.
- Simply put, calories give you energy.
Calories can come from fat or carbohydrates for the most part.
On the other hand, that is exactly what you are trying to eliminate in order to get those 6 pack abs right?
“Everyone knows that you have to burn more calories than you take in, in order to lose weight.”
- Usually that is the goal around summer time when you want to lose that fat and look good on the beach!
How Can You Keep Your Energy Levels Up While Dieting?
There is a couple things you can do, but it all really boils down to one thing.
- That one thing is caffeine, which is best found in coffee of course, but also in pre-workout drinks.
Personally, I slam a pre-workout drink, whether it’s Gold Standard or whatever else, and it hits me immediately if I take it on an empty stomach.
This definitely helps with dieting fatigue, and keeping energy levels up while dieting.
If You Have Never Taken Pre-Workout Drinks Before, Be Careful!
Pre-workout drinks will definitely help you increase energy during dieting and cutting down that fat for the summer.
You should definitely approach with caution.
Pre-workout drinks have a huge amount of caffeine, averaging about 350g per bottler, or scoop.
- That is a lot of caffeine my friend.
If you are caffeine sensitive, this is a good example of what might happen if you drink one of them, once they kick in, and start taking affect.

It may not be the most healthy way, but probably the best and most sure way you can keep your energy high during dieting.
Work Out First Thing In The Morning!
Keeping your energy levels up while dieting is not easy, so you have to strike when the iron is hot.
- When you wake up in the morning, it’s the time when you have the most energy. It’s your best bet to get a good workout in for the day.
“Sitting around and eating a low carb diet all day will not make it easy to hit the gym later in the day.”
Getting cut and burning fat is not easy. It’s really hard, and that is why a lot of people don’t have six pack abs.
It’s also why a lot of people are overweight.
- Go to the gym first thing in the morning every single day. If you are really looking to get ripped, you should have a second cardio session in the afternoon.
That is hard, and definitely not fun. Doing high intensity cardio, or even low intensity cardio is hard when you don’t have good energy.
Fortunately, that is when the fat starts going away. Your body has to burn fat for energy, and therefore, it taps into your fat stores.
It’s not fun for anyone to do cardio while having super low energy, but the results are amazing. It makes it all worth while.
Keeping Muscle Mass While Dieting With BCAA’s
I am sue you heard that you will lose muscle when you go on a diet.
- That is true, but that is more than a good trade off. Looking big and fat is not sexy to anyone!

Eat More Frequently To Maintain Energy!
When you go an extended period of time from one meal to the next, or skip meals all together, this causes problems with your metabolism.
- Eating when you are hungry will help your body to understand that you are not starving yourself.
In return, your body will reestablish a healthy metabolism that will help you reach a healthy weight.
Try to avoid not having more than about 4 hours go by without eating.
Breakfast is especially important, because your blood sugar will be low first thing in the morning.
- A well balanced breakfast will give you the right start to the day, waiting too long to eat in the morning will cause you problems for the rest of the day.
You will probably over eat, then get a food coma, then try to make up for it by not eating again, and the list goes on.
Get More Sleep, Have More Energy!
Sleep is something that many people don’t think about, and don’t know the importance of!
People are sacrificing very important and valuable sleep in order to stay up later watching their favorite show, and in return not getting the sleep they need!
It has been estimated that 20–30% of the general population may experience poor sleep.
- This lack of sleep can result in you feeling lethargic, grumpy and tired. If you often feel this way, you may want to consider whether you’re getting enough sleep.
An ideal amount of time to sleep is about 6-8 hours.
If you don’t sleep as much as you need to, keep in mind that sleeping in a cold room, not eating before bed, and not using electronics, are all things that help you sleep better.
You can also take a bath, or read a book to help you fall asleep.
“Not sleeping enough, simply destroys everything you are trying to do.”
It messes up your metabolism, and every other function of your body. Your body simply can’t function when it’s tired.
Your workouts, your fat burning, your recovery, are all put on hold when your body is tired.
This is an essential step to your road to fat loss while dieting and having better energy.
Stay Away From Alcohol
Since alcohol is a depressant, it can contribute to low energy.
- Ironically, it can also act as a stimulant several hours later, which can disrupt your sleep cycle and cause fatigue the next day.
It’s not ideal to drink at all during your diet, because alcohol is like throwing a wrench in a car engine.
If you depend on a nightly drink to fall asleep or overindulge over the weekends, you may find that cutting out or down on alcohol improves your energy considerably.
If you wish to indulge occasionally, red wine is a good choice for its antioxidant content.
Increase The Iron In Your Diet!
The iron content in food plays a crucial role in maintaining the energy level of the body.
- You shouldn’t just skip the iron-rich foods like beans, eggs, nuts and also red meat.
Researchers have shown that women need at least twice the iron content in comparison to that required by a male.
While preparing your diet plan, add adequate iron content as your body will need energy during the workout and other physical activities.
