Police Officer Physical Fitness Test Requirements Under Fire By 12 Women!
If you are looking to train for the police physical fitness test, or just want to know how to pass the police physical agility test, you came to the right place. But first, you need to know, that this test is the same for both men and women, and it does not discriminate race, gender, shape or size. Or, is that really true? After some research, I have found that every state does have different requirements for the police fitness test for men and women. The fact that these women sued, could be a strong case that this is discrimination (there are many other ones), but you can be the judge of that after watching the video below. But first, let’s take a look at some police physical test requirements.
Police Physical Test Requirements
I would have to agree, that the fitness test should have different requirements for both men and women. It simply does not make sense, that women are expected to compete with men, since men are genetically stronger in most cases. You could argue that the police physical entrance exam should be the same for all, since in reality, you have to deal with the same situations, and should be physically fit enough to handle them. You could also argue that some jobs, should be only for men, UNLESS, the woman can perform the same exact physical test or task. That said, this is not how the police entrance exam and fitness test work. I have found that most states if not all states, have different requirements for both men and women. Take a look at an example below.
How To Train For Police Fitness Test
Since a lot of these exercises and fitness requirements have to do with cardiovascular fitness, training for the police physical exam is very simple. Here are some exercises you should be doing on a regular basis in order to pass this test! Keep in mind that you are not trying to build muscle, you are not trying to look good for the beach, you are only trying to pass the police fitness test and nothing else. So what does that mean? It means that you have to practice those exact exercises as much as possible until you get good at them. Here is a good workout program for you to achieve that.
#1 Research Your State’s Police Department Fitness Requirements!
You need to do this first, because if you don’t know what you are training for, you could easily start training for the wrong fitness exam, and set yourself up for failure.
#2 Talk To Your Doctor!
For example, if there is something wrong with you, like a bad elbow or bad knees, you need to speak with your doctor first before going crazy and hitting that treadmill like a madman!
Preparation Workout Program
- Running – In most cases, no matter the state in which you are located in, you will have to run about 1.5 miles. A great way to prepare for this, is to run 4.5M 4 times a week. That is 3 times more than the test, so when you get to the test, you should have no problems. I would run the 4.5 miles every other day to allow your body to recover.
- Bodyweight exercises – Every other day, when you are not running, I would do 10 sets of pushups to failure, and also some sort of pull movement if you are unable to do pull ups.
- Diet – Please eat healthy. You can’t be fat as hell and pass this test. Try to eat clean and get as light as possible for this test. This will help you in all aspects of the physical test, because the lighter you are, the easier every movement and exercise is.
That is all you need to pass this test. Start about 6 weeks out, and you should be fine.
