Robert Bobroczky is a science research experiment, and also a social media star!
Robert Bobroczky is similar to combining the superpowers of your favorite NBA players into one. Can you imagine a player that is taller than anyone in the NBA, that also shoots 3 pointers, and barely needs to get off the ground to dunk a basketball. You can think of several players that might be similar, like Dirk Nowitzki, but one thing is for sure, that Dirk is not 7 feet 7 inches tall!
Robert Bobroczky was discovered on Youtube!
Yes, you heard it correct! His current coach at Spire Institute Bobby Bossman, saw a Youtube video that was going viral, and immediately wanted to reach out to Robert via Facebook. He was lucky enough to connect with Robert who was currently living in Romania, and did get a chance to speak with him and his family about why he feels Spire Institute was the right choice for Robert. Spire Institute last year alone, had 11 kids go play for Division 1 schools. If you know anything about basketball, that is pretty darn good. Here is the video that coach Bossman saw on Youtube.
When Robert Got To Ohio, He Didn’t Even Play!
The number one priority for the entire staff at the Spire Institute, was Roberts Health. He was making frequent visits to the Cleveland Clinic, where they ran every test under the sun to make sure Robert was healthy, and also that it would be safe for him to start practicing and eventually playing.
What Are The Plans For The Future?
The coach really wants Robert to go out there and have fun. Points and rebounds are not as important as Robert being happy, healthy and having fun. Being 7 ft 7 inches tall, he can obviously grow into an NBA player without even trying that hard. Those are facts. His coach just wants to take care of him and see where things go. As far as his work ethic goes, he’s coach says:
“The kid’s work ethic—I’m not just saying this because I’m talking to you about him—he’s hands down the hardest worker we have in our program. And we have some kids who work hard. The thing with Robert is that if you tell him to do something, he’s not going to question you, he’s just going to do it. When you look at the kid, he’s got a 4.0 GPA and speaks four languages [English, Italian, Romanian and Hungarian] fluently. That just shows his discipline. At 16, if you’re disciplined in the classroom, then your discipline will usually carry over to the rest of your life. From his work ethic on the court, in the weight room, in the pool, he’s doing everything he needs to do to get to the level he needs to get to. But aside from all of that, he’s truly an incredible young man. Quiet at first, but he’ll say something that will have you rolling on the floor laughing because you just didn’t expect it. Just a good heart.”
